Description:The 407 East Construction General Partnership has been awarded a large and complex construction project that consists of the design, build, finance and maintenance of Phase 1 of the new 407 East Highway in Ontario. The project will result in a 22 kilometer extension eastbound from Brock Road in Pickering to Harmony Road in Oshawa, as well as a 10 kilometer north-south highway east of Lake Ridge Road connecting Highway 407 East to Highway 401.

Position: Utilities Coordinator

Duties:Primary Role:
•Review alignment and plans to assess potential impact to existing and future utilities and perform related utility research and coordination.
•Read plans and act as liaison between designers, utility agencies and client on utility related matters.
•Participate in utility coordination meetings, documenting meeting minutes and maintaining files of all activities for each utility agency.
•Lead and assist utility agencies and contractors with preparation of contingency plans for unplanned utility events.
•Provide schedule oversight for utility work integrated with the construction schedule.
•Provide clarity on contract obligations for utility work and establish where requested upgrades or enhancements may constitute additional assignments.
•Review and interpret reference drawings, establish program for utilities to be abandoned, protected in place or relocated, supported by all relevant computations.
•Review and interpret drawing and data submittals from contractors to ensure that all works are executed in accordance with the project requirements.
•Coordinate with engineering and design teams to actively resolve technical and project execution issues.
•Coordinate with engineering and design consultants in order to find the best solution cost-frame time.
•Liaise with construction managers to ensure that the utility work supports construction sequencing and respective deadlines are met and on schedule.
•Resolve site inquiries, attending site meetings and performing site inspections during construction.
Qualifications:The utility coordinator should have 2 to 5 years experience in civil infrastructure and utilities construction. Experience in coordinating and scheduling installation of utilities including; watermains, electrical & telephone distribution systems, gas pipelines; storm sewers, and sanitary sewers.

Civil Engineering degree is an asset.
